DESCRIPTION:Join the Tuesday Night Book Group as we read and discuss the short but powerful 60-page book UNION WITH GOD: Living the Christ Life by Jesuit priest Fr. David Meconi\, who explains\, “A key fact of the Christian life that we in the 21st century have either forgotten or misunderstood [is] that Christianity is a two-act play: In the first half of the story\, God becomes human. But that’s only the beginning. In the second half\, if you will\, we are called to become like God\, and thereby begin to live with his power and his joy\, his love\, and his mercy.” \nSt. Athanasius famously said that “The Son of God became man so that we might become God.” We will delve into what it means for a Christian to not only have a relationship with God but become so united with Him that we take part in his divinity. \nAuthor Fr. David V. Meconi\, SJ\, serves as Assistant Professor of Early Christianity at Saint Louis University in Missouri. He received his Ph.D. at Oxford\, writing his dissertation on St. Augustine’s thoughts on deification.
