DESCRIPTION:Join us for a day of reflection and faith sharing guided by Joe Delaney\, our presenter. Joe’s many accomplishments include serving as the Chairman of the Board for the Catholic Charities of Staten Island and Chairman of the New York Development Board for Support Our Aging Religious (SOAR).\n\nOur speaker’s presentation will challenge us to reflect upon the outcome of remaining silent when our brothers are in need. The first part of the presentation asks us to contemplate “What is the cost of discipleship?” and bring us to a realization that “silence is not the answer but instead\, to listen to his voice and act upon his words.” Using the events surrounding the Vatican’s failure to publish Father John Lafarge’s findings on Nazism before the outbreak of the Second World War\, our presenter offers a sobering picture of how we failed to care for our Jewish brothers by remaining silent. \nThe second part of the presentation will highlight the changes in attitude towards antisemitism\, initiated by Pope John XXIII and continued by every Pope since\, including Pope Francis. \nFollowing the presentation\, the audience is invited to take part in faith-sharing sessions\, which will encourage us to consider how our own actions can promote the spirit of global brotherhood acclaimed in “Fratelli Tutti”. \nTo register\, please click here.

Boniface Endorf\, OP \nFr. Boniface Endorf\, OP\, grew up in Cincinnati\, Ohio\, and attended the University of Cincinnati\, studying philosophy. He subsequently graduated from New York University School of Law. He then joined the Order of Preachers\, the Dominicans\, and studied theology at the Pontifical Faculty of the Immaculate Conception in Washington D.C.\, graduating with an STL. He has worked in pastoral ministry for the past seven years and has been the pastor of the Church of St. Joseph in Greenwich Village for the past four years. Currently Fr. Boniface is building the first perpetual adoration chapel in Manhattan and is growing ministries at St. Joseph’s\, including many serving young adults and those working in financial fields. Fr. Boniface has an interest in Catholic mystics and has studied them from the Thomistic theological tradition. \n  \nZuleyha Colak \nZuleyha Colak is a Lecturer and the Coordinator of the Turkish program at Columbia University. She was a Teaching Specialist at the University of Minnesota\, Twin Cities\, Minneapolis in Global Studies between 2005-2009. She received her B.A. from Istanbul University\, Turkey (1998). Her master’s degree is in Central Eurasian Studies/Modern Turkish and Ottoman Studies at Indiana University (2003). She has a Ph.D. degree from Indiana University\, Bloomington/Indiana. Her interests are Islamic literature\, Comparative Literature/Literary Theory. Her dissertation is on: “Qur’anic and Biblical Story of Joseph and Zulaikha and its impact on Ottoman Literature: Reconstruction of the identity of Woman”. Some courses she taught are Romance in Islamic Literature\, Perspectives on Islam and Woman\, and Essentials in Islamic Spirituality.
