SUMMARY:Tuesday Night Book Group: Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis
DESCRIPTION:About Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis\nIn the classic Mere Christianity\, C.S. Lewis\, the most important writer of the 20th century\, explores the common ground upon which all of those of Christian faith stand together. Bringing together Lewis’ legendary broadcast talks during World War Two from his three previous books The Case for Christianity\, Christian Behavior\, and Beyond Personality\, Mere Christianity provides an unequaled opportunity for believers and nonbelievers alike to hear this powerful apologetic for the Christian faith. \nFor more information and to register\, email karenpagenyc@gmail.com or croux28@gmail.com for details. \nAll are welcome. \n

SUMMARY:Webinar: Catholic Women in Global Health: Mothers and Children
DESCRIPTION:Many of the most at-risk mothers and children in the developing world live in rural settings with limited access to even basic health care. CMMB (Catholic Medical Mission Board) works with community health workers\, village health committees\, local clinics\, and hospitals to ensure that care is delivered to families living where the road ends. Engaging community members in this process has proved especially critical during the pandemic when seeking health care might itself be a source of risk. Finding ways to reduce the risk of Coronavirus spreading while still promoting the most basic health services that each year prevent the deaths of thousands of women and children around the world has created an unprecedented challenge. Community-based approaches are valuable and the strengthening of clinics and hospitals is still a necessary component of life-saving solutions. \nTo register\, click here. \n\n \n \n \n \n Moderator: Jana I. SUMMARY:LGBT Catholics & Friends
DESCRIPTION:We are a group of LGBT parishioners and family and friends (and parents) of LGBT persons. We are a parish ministry of\, by\, and for our lesbian\, gay\, bisexual\, and transgender sisters and brothers in Christ and those who love and support them. Our ministry extends to\, and embraces\, the mission of the entire parish\, our home. \nDuring the first two months of lockdown\, LGBT Catholics and Friends continued to meet\, initially over Zoom\, then once the lockdown eased\, at picnics in Central Park. These enabled our members to support each other. \nEach year our ministry hosts events that aim to foster mutual respect\, compassion\, and sensitivity between our parish and the wider community on LGBT issues through education and dialogue. We jointly host events with other ministries at St. Ignatius Loyola that aim to bring together the parish community including retreats and the Amazing Race. \nTo join us for our monthly Zoom meeting\, click here. \nFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/sil.lgbt.caf/\nGoogle Groups: https://groups.google.com/d/forum/lgbt-catholics-and-friends/join

SUMMARY:Photo Shoot | Celebrating Women at St. Ignatius: Past\, Present\, Future
DESCRIPTION:Women of St. Ignatius! Come and be photographed for our March 11th celebration!\nAlmost 130 of you have already been photographed. Which is great—but we want more! \nThis isn’t just for parish ministers. It’s for all of you because all of you live your faith in your homes\, your jobs\, your communities! You are moms who pass on our faith\, women who pray for the sick\, teachers who show patience to your students\, nurses and doctors who bring healing\, salespersons who serve even cranky customers with respect—it’s not possible to name all the ways you live your faith\, day-to-day. \n We want you ALL to be photographed AND THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE! Our pastor and staff and all those who benefit from your life of faith and service and your fellow parishioners—both men and women—want to celebrate you and all our women. You are our faith\, alive today\, in our world. \nDon’t let a false sense of modesty keep you away! And don’t let COVID! We will be taking photos in the large space of Wallace Hall in a safe way\, wearing masks (except for the actual photo\, of course) and keeping a social distance. \nPLEASE COME TO ONE OF OUR PHOTO SHOOTS! THERE WON’T BE ANY MORE AFTER THESE! We will be taking photos on Sunday\, February 21st from 1-5 PM\, and on Wednesday\, February 24th from 1-6 PM. To make an appointment\, access the celebratingwomen2021@gmail.com address\, provide your name\, phone number and preferred email address\, and pick one of these dates. We’ll then arrange with you a convenient time. Then just show up in Wallace Hall—it’s as simple as that. \nAll photos will be black and white and be from the bust upward\, so you can dress comfortably. \nWe want every woman in our parish to be a part of this great moment of celebration! DON’T MISS IT!

SUMMARY:Celebrating Women of St. Ignatius: Past\, Present\, Future
DESCRIPTION:In the Church & Livestreamed\nWhat’s in store? You will be greeted by large-size photos of 130 women of our parish on display in the church. And you can read their personal faith stories. Isn’t it time? \nSee you on March 11th! Come at 6:30 pm so you have time to get a good look at the photos and read the personal statements. \n(Seating in the church on March 11th will adhere to social distancing rules.
