Issan Koyama is a Buddhist priest and disciple of Shōhaku Okumura Rōshi.  He is originally from Japan and came to the USA as a newspaper and TV journalist. \nIn the early years of the AIDS epidemic\, Issan volunteered for end-of-life care in New York City and subsequently became a professional caregiver. \nWhile working as a full-time hospice chaplain in the USA\, Issan co-established and managed a residence and medical facility in Japan that hosted geriatric/palliative patients and family clinics. \nHis work was featured in both American and Japanese mainstream media\, such as The New York Times\, Asahi Shimbun\, PBS Morning Edition\, and StoryCorps‘ book “Callings.” \nIssan currently divides his time between the USA and Japan\, focusing on Dōgen study.

SUMMARY:Bread-Making and Faith-Sharing
DESCRIPTION:Join the Ignatian Interfaith Ministry as we share in an interfaith community building\, bread-baking activity during which we will share our sacred stories of where we have found meaning in our lives that refresh our souls. Rabbi Joel Mosbacher of Temple Shaaray Tefila will be leading us in a 90-minute program. During this time\, we will make dough from scratch\, braid the dough\, and then take it home with instructions about how to bake it either immediately or at a later time. This is a wonderful opportunity for fellowship and learning a new skill. \nRegistration is required. Chrysostomos Gilbert\n \nV. Rev. Archimandrite Chrysostomos Gilbert is currently the Dean of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocesan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New York. \nUpon ordination to the Holy Deaconate\, Father Chrysostomos served under His Eminence Metropolitan Barnabas of Neapolis and Stavroupolis in Thessaloniki\, Greece\, before returning to New York to work for the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America in the Office of the Chancellor. Father Chrysostomos was ordained into the Holy Priesthood in 2013 and given the Offikion of Archimandrite in 2016.

Boniface Endorf\, OP \nFr. Boniface Endorf\, OP\, grew up in Cincinnati\, Ohio\, and attended the University of Cincinnati\, studying philosophy. He subsequently graduated from New York University School of Law. He then joined the Order of Preachers\, the Dominicans\, and studied theology at the Pontifical Faculty of the Immaculate Conception in Washington D.C.\, graduating with an STL. He has worked in pastoral ministry for the past seven years and has been the pastor of the Church of St. Joseph in Greenwich Village for the past four years. Currently Fr. Boniface is building the first perpetual adoration chapel in Manhattan and is growing ministries at St. Joseph’s\, including many serving young adults and those working in financial fields. Fr. Boniface has an interest in Catholic mystics and has studied them from the Thomistic theological tradition. \n  \nZuleyha Colak \nZuleyha Colak is a Lecturer and the Coordinator of the Turkish program at Columbia University. She was a Teaching Specialist at the University of Minnesota\, Twin Cities\, Minneapolis in Global Studies between 2005-2009. She received her B.A. from Istanbul University\, Turkey (1998). Her master’s degree is in Central Eurasian Studies/Modern Turkish and Ottoman Studies at Indiana University (2003). She has a Ph.D. degree from Indiana University\, Bloomington/Indiana. Her interests are Islamic literature\, Comparative Literature/Literary Theory. Her dissertation is on: “Qur’anic and Biblical Story of Joseph and Zulaikha and its impact on Ottoman Literature: Reconstruction of the identity of Woman”. Some courses she taught are Romance in Islamic Literature\, Perspectives on Islam and Woman\, and Essentials in Islamic Spirituality.
