Education on every level is a cornerstone of the Jesuit tradition. St. Ignatius Loyola, New York is proud to offer exceptional educational opportunities for children of all ages.
Beginning with children from two to five years old, the St. Ignatius Loyola Preschool provides a challenging preschool program emphasizing creative play, social interactions, and cognitive skills. Students at the Grammar School, serving kindergarten through eighth grade, receive a balanced education emphasizing the spiritual, intellectual, and social development of the individual.
For students enrolled in other public or private schools, our Parish also offers a comprehensive Interparish Religious Education program that continues the on-going faith formation process and guides children as they prepare to receive the sacraments of Eucharist, Reconciliation, and Confirmation.
Information regarding COVID-19 and re-opening

IREP Alumnus Luke Jovanovic, Regis High School Class of 2022
"IREP at St. Ignatius Loyola helped me to understand and appreciate my faith from a young age. The education and experience I received has allowed me to shape my life in the image of God and work towards becoming the best version of myself."
Our Interparish Religious Education Program (IREP) is an on-going after school formation process for children in Kindergarten to 8th grade. IREP is intended for children who do not attend Catholic School but would like to be formed in the Catholic Faith. Families from any parish are welcome to enroll their children in our program.
This is a program of religious formation for preschool children ages 3, 4, and 5 that is offered through our Interparish Religious Education Program. The program uses Montessori-based educational techniques in a space called the "Atrium"—an area of the building where the child has the opportunity to develop a personal relationship with God through hands-on and activity-based introductions to Scripture narratives and the Liturgical traditions of the Church.
St. Ignatius Loyola Preschool
The St. Ignatius Loyola Preschool is a home away from home, where faith, love and knowledge form the cornerstones of a child-centered curriculum. In a bright, safe, beautiful townhouse on East 84th Street in Manhattan, children develop a strong sense of self, an abiding respect for others, and a lifelong love of learning.
The Grammar School
The Saint Ignatius Loyola Grammar School, located at 48 East 84th Street, is under the auspices of the Archdiocese of New York. It offers an education to children from kindergarten through the eighth grade. It celebrates the multicultural community reflected in its administration, faculty and students. It also recognizes the important role parents have as primary educators in their children’s lives.
We welcome many guests and visitors to St. Ignatius and especially welcome those who may be thinking about becoming Catholic. The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the ordinary way the Church reaches out to adults who inquire about the Catholic faith. If you feel drawn to the Catholic faith, we invite you to join us. Contact Maureen Fullam, M.A., Director, at the Parish House.
