Tuesday Night Book Group: Saturday Midday Field Trip
October 15, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Join the Tuesday Night Book Group on a Saturday Midday Field Trip to hear a one-hour talk on St. Gregory of Nyssa (335-95), an early influential figure who has been hailed as “the father of Christian mysticism.” Whether ascending Mount Sinai with Moses, or the Sermon on the Mount with Jesus, or from created things to the Transcendent Beauty with the Neo-Platonists, this Cappadocian Father helps us encounter the “luminous darkness” of the mystery of God. This will be followed by an optional two-hour guided meditation based on St. Gregory’s writings from 1 PM to 3 PM.
To register to attend and to receive a complimentary copy of the book Gregory of Nyssa: The Life of Moses, which is considered one of the most important books in the study of Christian mysticism (and retells the story of Moses’s life from the biblical account in Exodus and Numbers, and then refers back to these stories as the basis for profound spiritual lessons), email [email protected].
