Rev. William Bergen, S.J.

I am a native New Yorker, born in the Hamilton Heights area of Manhattan, a graduate of Our Lady of Lourdes Grammar School, Regis High School, and Fordham College Rose Hill campus. After college, I was drafted in the U.S. Army and spent two years stateside just after the Korean war had ended. Upon my discharge, I entered the Jesuits and was ordained in 1965. I embarked on graduate studies in theology at Catholic University in Washington, D. C. and then taught theology at St. Peter’s College in Jersey City for six years. I was always drawn to parish work and began my parish ministry at St. Ignatius Loyola parish in Baltimore. In 1989 I came home to St. Ignatius Loyola Church in Manhattan.
