Adult Faith Formation

Committee Chairs:

Brian B. Pinter, Pastoral Associate

Our adult faith formation courses, workshops, and lectures seek to create a space for exploration, reflection, and dialogue on spiritual, theological, and biblical topics. Together, we hope to move toward maturity of faith, understanding of our tradition, wholeness and healing in our lives, and deeper friendship with God. Themes we have studied include women of the Bible, difficult scripture passages, the book of Revelation, the spirituality of chronic pain, the spirituality of imperfection, forgiveness, caring for the caregiver, befriending the life not chosen, among many others.

Since the transition to “distance learning” due to COVID 19, more parishioners and friends (from other states and continents!) have been able to participate in our classes. Content has been revised and tailored to address the spiritual questions and issues attendant to our moment, for example, our spring course explored “soulful suffering” and we have instituted a weekly podcast that explores spirituality topics. These have included “Dreams in the Time of COVID 19”, “Fasting from Breaking News”, “Adjusting to Extended Sabbath”, and “The American House on Fire – Riots and Looting.”
